We were delighted to confirm our fundraising project that enabled us to purchase and donate to the Great Western Hospital surgical equipment to enable their surgeons to perform Transanal Endoscopic Operations.

On 30 September, we were delighted to officially hand over to consultant colorectal and general Surgeon, Mr Alexander, the new equipment, which was purchased by our charity at a cost of £14,652.  Initially, we aimed to raise £28,00 but the cost to us has been halved, thanks to the hospital’s own Brighter Futures charity, which, recognising the benefits to patients and the hospital, offered to fund half the total cost of the equipment needed.

An article on our gift to our local hospital was featured in our local newspaper, the Swindon Advertiser, on Saturday, 1 October.

In conjunction with our stoma team, we are funding certain loos that are used by ostomists at the GWH to be adapted to make them ‘Stoma Friendly’, watch this space.
